Lehigh seniors who attended the 2015 Grad Fair Days in March to order caps and gowns had the opportunity to donate to the senior class gift campaign. During the three-day event, 376 seniors made donations with 17 joining the Asa Packer Society by donating $100 or more at the student membership level. Since the launch of the senior class gift campaign in September, a total of 55 students from First Year students to seniors have become new Asa Packer Society members.
“By donating to the senior class gift, students exemplify their gratitude and pride for Lehigh,” said Tricia Huston, director of the Asa Packer Society. “We are so pleased to welcome our newest members.”
The overall total raised during Grad Fair Days, which was held at the bookstore, was $4,086. Many seniors designated their donations to support campus organizations or clubs that are important to them or to help support the needs of the overall Lehigh community.
Since the start of the campaign, the senior class gift committee has worked hard to recently meet its goal of having 650 donors before June 30. In doing so, their class gift to Lehigh will receive an additional $10,000 match gift from members of the 50th reunion Class of 1965.
Rachel Mayer ’15, senior class officer and team leader of the senior class gift committee, has participated at Grad Fair Days every year as a student worker. She said, “This year, in particular, we had a lot of student donors. I think that people really understood why they were giving. They appreciate the university–that’s what encouraged them to give back.”
