George W. Bovenizer is a double alumnus of Lehigh University, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1963 and a master’s degree in business administration in 1964. He was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Bovenizer was a group leader, customer service manager, and Eastern region sales manager at N. L. Industries. In 1989, he and a partner bought Meadow Lane, Inc., a packaged liquor and wine shop, from which he retired in 2002.
George and Lynn Bovenizer have two sons who are also Lehigh alumni, David ’90 and Mark ’93. The Bovenizers have hosted a presidential dinner at their home and several Lehigh University Alumni Association freshman sendoffs, and the Lynn S. and George W. Bovenizer III ’63 Family Scholarship Fund supports undergraduate students. They also sponsored a meeting room on the second floor of the Rauch Business Center, a kiosk in the Admissions Visitor Center, and the East Reading Room Fireplace Lounge in Linderman Library. Bovenizer has served as a member of the Leadership Council.
The Bovenizers’ philanthropic leadership led to their being honored as Grand Founders of the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation in Florida, where he is a trustee. They enjoy theater, museums, music, and golf.
