Douglas C. Lane graduated from Lehigh in 1967, earning a degree in business administration with a major in finance. He was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity and played on the varsity baseball team. He later received an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Lane’s professional career began at the investment firm Brundage, Story and Rose, where he had interned during his undergraduate years. Attaining the designations of chartered investment counselor and chartered financial analyst, he rose from associate to partner. In 1994, Lane and his wife, Gay, formed their own investment advisory firm, now known as Douglas C. Lane and Associates.
Since his graduation, Lane has served the university in many capacities. In 1987, he was appointed to the Alumni Association board of directors, where he subsequently served as vice president, president, and board trustee. He spent seven years on the Lehigh University Board of Trustees, with terms as chair of the Investment Subcommittee and member of the Audit, Development, and Finance Committees. He is active in the Lehigh Wall Street Council and was honored with the New York Alumni Club’s prestigious L-in-Life Award.
The Lanes’ devotion to their business and to each other also extends to Lehigh and its students. They both serve on the Lehigh Leadership Council, working to inspire alumni to consider Lehigh as a philanthropic priority. They endowed a classroom in the Rauch Business Center, supported the Linderman Library renovation, and sponsored the Lane Challenge Climbing Wall as part of the Taylor Gym renovation. They also contribute to the Martindale Society, Segal Endowed Accounting Speaker Series, Stacom Family ire@l Speaker Series, and various programs relating to student affairs.
