Helaine B. and Fredric H. Gould 1957

Helaine ’11GP and Fredric Gould ’57 ’11GP have generously supported distinctive communities at Lehigh that allow students to explore their passions and grow as leaders in and outside of the classroom. Over the years, the Goulds have significantly supported scholarship and athletics. They established the Gould-Shenfeld Family Foundation Athletic Facility Maintenance Fund, which maintains the quality and operations of the Ulrich Sports Complex so that field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer student-athletes have the facilities they deserve to play in, and fans have the best possible experiences cheering on the teams.

In 2014 the Goulds funded the construction of the Gould-Shenfeld Center, which serves as a pre-game and halftime venue for the field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer teams. The center benefits Lehigh’s varsity athletes, as well as youth leagues and local and regional tournaments. The Goulds are members of the Tower Society, the South Mountain Society, and Founder’s Associates of the Asa Packer Society.

In addition to their gifts to athletics, including the lacrosse program, the Goulds have supported the Philip & Muriel Berman Center for Jewish Studies and the Hillel Society. The beneficence of the Gould-Shenfeld Family Foundation extends to other initiatives supporting cross-cultural communities as well as the arts, health, children, youth and social services. Fredric received his undergraduate degree in business administration, and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Laws from New York University. In addition to being partner and chairman of the Gould-Shenfeld Family Foundation, he has been in the real estate business for more than 50 years. He is the owner of Gould General LLC and a general partner of Gould Investors L.P. Fred has served as CEO of One Liberty Properties and as president of REIT Management Corp. He was the CEO of BRT Realty Trust from March 1996 to December 2001 and its chairman from 1984 to 2013. He has served as director of EastGroup Properties, Inc. since 1998.

Helaine and Fredric have three children. Their grandson, Zachary, is a 2011 Lehigh graduate. They currently reside in Manhasset, NY.
