Raymond J. Coates 1959

Raymond Coates ’59 strongly valued the education he received at Lehigh as an electrical engineering major. Through planned giving he established the Raymond J. Coates '59 Endowed Research Fund, which supports the research efforts of the electrical engineering department and provides valuable experience to the faculty and students. A few of the activities that Raymond enjoyed during his time at Lehigh include the Mustard & Cheese drama society and Tau Beta Pi. He was also a founding member of the Gryphon Society. As an alumnus, Raymond was a member of the Tower Society and the South Mountain Society, and he was a Founder’s Associate of the Asa Packer Society.

Raymond was a staff engineer for Lockheed Martin Corporation prior to his retirement. He passed away in 2019
