Abbott L. Brown graduated from the Lehigh University class of ’65 with a B.S. degree. He then started his professional career in Los Angeles with the international accounting firm of Price Waterhouse. During Brown’s 25-year career with Price Waterhouse, he was the managing partner for the Southern California region and served a broad range of companies. In 1990, he became executive vice president and chief financial officer, Sony Pictures Entertainment, the parent company to Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star Pictures, Merv Griffen Enterprises and Loews Theatres.
From 1994 to 1998, Brown was managing director and chief financial officer, Pacific Capital Group, a Beverly Hills-based merchant banking firm. Pacific Capital Group pursued investments in the telecommunications, healthcare, real estate and entertainment industries. Brown served in various capacities related to Pacific Capital Group investments, including serving on various boards and management roles. Pacific Capital Group founded Global Crossing in 1997 where Brown was member of its Board of Directors. Brown left Global Crossing in early 2000.
Brown currently serves as chief executive officer of Ridgestone Corporation, a family-controlled investment firm based in Los Angeles founded in 1997. In addition to directly managed investments, Ridgestone invests in a wide range of investment strategies with partners and many of the world’s leading investment managers.
Brown has three sons and is active in various philanthropic and community activities. Brown serves on the Board of Claremont McKenna College and Saint John’s Health Center and has served as chairman of Saint John’s Health Center Foundation.
