Martha and Paul Leitner are members of Lehigh’s prestigious the Asa Packer Society, and the Tower Society, which recognizes those who have made endowed gifts to Lehigh. In 1994, they endowed a scholarship to benefit an undergraduate wrestler of promise. They have also supported the Cundey Varsity House project on the Goodman Campus, the Career Services Center at Rauch Business Center, the crew team, and were lead donors in the establishment of an endowment for Lehigh’s football coach. Additionally, their gifts have supported the Zoellner Arts Center and Delta Phi fraternity.
Leitner is a principal in the private investment firm, The Leitner Thomas Group (LTG), in New York City. LTG acquires controlling interests in emerging growth and middle market companies. He began his career with Banker’s Trust and later worked for AEA Investors, Inc.
Formerly vice-chair of the Lehigh Board of Trustees, Leitner is a member of the executive committee, chair of the development committee, and vice-chair of Shine Forever: The Campaign for Lehigh. Leitner was also a member of the Gast presidential search committee. In addition, he is a member of the physical planning and plant committee, the nominating committee, cultural affairs committee, and investment subcommittee. He has also served on the Lehigh Athletics Partnership Advisory Board and as a Lehigh agent.
While a student at Lehigh, Leitner was a member of the Delta Phi fraternity and was president of the Interfraternity Council. After graduating in 1976, he went on to earn a master's of business administration from New York University. Martha Connelly Leitner graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, earned a graduate degree from New York University, and also a master’s of business administration from Columbia University.
The Leitners are the parents of three daughters. Their primary residence is in New York City.
