Warren V. (Pete) Musser earned a B.S. from Lehigh University in industrial engineering in 1949. While an undergraduate, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, Tau Beta Pi national engineering honorary society, the Glee Club, and competed in inter fraternity football, basketball and swimming. Musser served as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., from 1953 until 2001. In his roles, he facilitated the formation and success of many of today’s top Fortune 500 companies, including QVC, Comcast, Novell, Inc., and more. He currently continues to serve as chairman emeritus of Safeguard and is also the managing director of the Musser Group, a financial consulting company. He also remains active on a number of corporate boards as a director of Internet Capital Group, Inc., chairman of Telkonet, Inc. and vice-chairman of Nutri-System, Inc.
Musser is a long-time Lehigh supporter. He was chairperson of the Philadelphia area “Preserving The Vision Campaign” for Lehigh, and was vice chair of the university's national campaign committee.
Musser is also a strong supporter of and contributor to the community at-large. He is a member of a variety of civic, educational, and charitable boards of directors, and serves as vice president of development for the Liberty Council of the Boy Scouts of America, co-chairman of the Eastern Technology Council, chairman of Economics PA, and chairman of the National Center for the American Revolution. Musser has three children. He resides in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
